Summer Intern Temporary Employee Frankfort Community Public Library Position Title: Summer Intern – Temporary Employee Department: Administration, Frankfort Community Public Library Supervisor: Library Director Date: 5/12/25 Job Objective: Temporary summer intern will assist the administration office at the Frankfort Community Public Library during the summer. Intern will also assist permanent staff in providing quality library service, materials, and programs to patrons of all ages in the library, at branches, and in the community as needed. Schedule: • Part-time 18 hours per week • Work some evenings and weekends as scheduled at the Frankfort Community Public Library Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Provide excellent customer service to all staff and library patrons. • Assist with various office administrative duties as assigned. • Assist with paperwork and filing. • Assist with organizing and sorting items. • Light cleaning and dusting. Other Duties and Responsibilities May Include • Assist patrons as needed. • Assist library staff during programs including setup, materials preparation, and clean-up. • Assist library staff and patrons with various tasks such as checking in and out materials, shelving, sorting and moving materials. • Answer patron questions and assist patrons in using technology and with locating library materials. • Inform and register patrons for events and programs. • Check out materials. • Shelve materials. • Inform and register patrons for events and programs. • Represent the library in the community as needed at events. • Assist library staff in various departments with all other duties as assigned by the Library Director. Skills • Ability to effectively communicate person-to-person, on the telephone, and in writing. • Ability to provide excellent customer service. • Ability to follow instructions. • Ability to maintain confidentiality of library records. • Ability to sort materials alphabetically and numerically. • Knowledge of and experience with computers and computer software. • Valid driver’s license. Environmental Conditions Must be physically able to move files, boxes of files, book carts, shelve books on both high and low shelves, and be able to file materials accurately and alphabetically. Machines, tools, Equipment & Work Aids Computers, typewriters, copy machine, printer, audio and video equipment, cooking equipment and appliances, arts and crafts supplies, letter cutter, carts, shelving equipment, vacuum cleaner, paper cutter, ladder, small appliances, and other office equipment.
