At Solidarity Community Federal Credit Union, the spirit of cooperation, community, and member empowerment is at the heart of everything we do. Since our humble beginnings in 1954, we have stood as a testament to the power of unity in achieving financial well-being for all. From a small group of dedicated Delco Electronics employees pooling their resources to help a colleague buy a car, we’ve grown into a thriving not-for-profit financial cooperative that continues to serve and support our members with the same passion and values that sparked our inception.


The story of Solidarity Community Federal Credit Union began with a simple yet powerful idea: to help each other. Back in 1954, a group of employees from Delco Electronics in the Detroit area came together with a shared goal—to assist a co-worker in buying a car. They decided to pool a quarter a week into a cigar box until they had saved enough money to make the purchase. While this may seem like a small and modest beginning, it laid the foundation for something much greater—a cooperative financial institution built on the idea that people can achieve more when they come together and help one another.

From these humble roots, Solidarity Community FCU was born. What started as a small group of colleagues working together to meet a personal financial need quickly evolved into a full-fledged credit union.
