Frankfort, IN—On March 15, 10 a.m.–3:30 p.m., Jennifer Van Horn will teach a genealogy workshop entitled “Finding the Right Mother” at the Frankfort Community Public Library. In this workshop, Van Horn will teach participants how to find and use different source types, as well as indirect evidence, to help determine the correct mother of children in a family group. She will also present completed research case studies, one of which will include DNA evaluation, so attendees can see the application of what they are learning. Participants will have the opportunity to practice with hands-on exercises. Van Horn is a Genealogy Library volunteer at the SullivanMunce Cultural Center in Zionsville, where she helps beginners and lifelong family historians find something new. She also serves as the president of the Boone County Genealogical Society. “Finding the Right Mother” is an intermediate-level class. Participants should be familiar with a variety of source types and have experience conducting document searches in-person and online using Ancestry, FamilySearch, and/or MyHeritage. This class will be held in the lower level meeting room, and attendees will break for lunch around noon. The cost is $2, and registration is required. To register, call (765) 654-8746, visit myfcpl.org/calendar, or stop by the library. For more information, contact Jill Garrison at (765) 654-8746, ext. 1137 or jgarrison@myfcpl.org
