CCGS: Clinton County Under Cover, Can You Dig It?

In celebration of Indiana Archaeology Month, the Clinton County Genealogical Society is bringing Dr. Christopher Moore to discuss recent archaeological investigations in Clinton and Carroll counties. In his presentation, Moore will summarize the results of recent University of Indianapolis surveys in Clinton County. He will also hypothesize about the kinds of information the sites could provide should additional archaeological work (i.e., excavation) be done, drawing from the context of similar work that his team has completed in Carroll County. Moore is a professor of anthropology at the University of Indianapolis. He holds a doctorate in anthropology from University of Kentucky, where he studied the organization and production of stone and bone tool technologies of the Kentucky Green River Archaic. He has also studied similar topics in the Ohio River valley, Spanish Mission period archaeology, Contact Period ceramics in coastal Georgia, and the early historic settlement and agro-industrial development of small communities in Indiana.
