SUMMARY:CCGS- A Revolutionary War Reenactor’s Perspective
DESCRIPTION:Join Raymond Beets at the Michigantown Community Center on May 7 at 5:30 p.m. to get a reenactor's perspective on the Revolutionary War. In his presentation\, Beets will help the Revolutionary War come alive for his audience by demonstrating militia and Continental Army uniforms as well as his rifle\, musket\, and other items from the Colonial period. He will also discuss the historical inaccuracies of the famous poem "The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere" along with the history of the song "Yankee Doodle Dandy." In addition\, Beets will talk about the Declaration of Independence and its meaning for us today. Beets\, who is a member of the Sons of the American Revolution\, has been actively honoring the memory of his nine patriot ancestors as a reenactor for 13 years. Sponsored by the Clinton County Genealogical Society\, this program is free and open to the public. If you are planning to attend\, please RSVP to clintoncogensociety@gmail.com by April 30 so arrangements can be made to accommodate everyone. For those who cannot attend in person\, the presentation will be broadcast via Facebook Live. For more information\, contact Jill Garrison at (765) 654-8746\, ext. 1137 or jgarrison@myfcpl.org.
